Wow, has it really been that long since I posted? Where has the time gone?

Recently I've been changing my decorations little by little from Halloween to Thanksgiving/Christmas. Here's a picture of my dining room table with my collection of deer. I just found the big gold deer at Home Goods. Have you been there lately? They always have wonderful things you never knew you needed until you see them. I also found the large red mercury glass tree. This fall I also got 2 large mercury glass Pumpkins from Home Goods and they are glorious as well.

SPENDING TIME WITH MY LOVE

DAVID AND I GOT BACK FROM VEGAS 2 WEEKS AGO. I HAD THE BEST TIME WITH MY HANDSOME LOVE! WE SPENT A FEW DAYS ON THE VEGAS STRIP THEN TIME AT A TIMESHARE WITH A POOL. AFTER A WEEKS OF LAYING BY THE POOL RESTING AND LOVING LIFE WE DROVE TO THE GRAND CANYON AND HOOVER DAM. IT WAS SO BEAUTIFUL THIS TIME OF YEAR! AT THE END OF OUR TRIP WE SPEND A FEW DAYS IN JEAN NEVADA AT A CASINO OWNED BY MGM AND LEARNED HOW TO PLAY BLACKJACK. WE TOOK A COUPLE OF DAYS TO DRIVE THROUGH THE DESERT AND DO A BOTANICAL STUDY ON CACTUS THEN DRIVE THROUGH RED ROCK CANYON. EVERYTIME I SAW A NEW CACTUS OR FLOWER WE'D PULL OVER AND TAKE A PICTURE. WE BOUGHT A BOOK TO LOOK THEM UP IN AND DAVID DID THAT AS HE EDITED PHOTOS ON THE COMPUTER.

NOW I'M BACK IN THE SWING OF WORK AGAIN AND LOOKING FORWARD TO OUR NEXT VACATION.

I'M SICK OF WINTER

When I was growing up I used to love the snow and winter. My brother Richard and I would go to Veteran's Acres and ice skate and sled. We'd go to West Beach and Ice skate while our mom stayed in the car with the heat on. I used to love to go outside and play in the snow, build snowmen, make snow angels......

But today I officially hate winter! When I wake up in the mornings I feel like I'm 100 years old. I'm stiff and hurting all over and I have to take my dogs outside, into that cold. My dogs love the snow, they love to play in it, chase each other, stick their noses down in each snow hole that there is. I have to yell at them to get them to go potty so I can go back inside to the warmth. I hate yelling at them, I want them to play and have fun........but I'm crabby these days. I need some sunshine and warmth.

I'm crabby and have no energy. I really need a nap. I'm leaving work early today so I can go home and nap.......now that makes me happy.

NO, THIS ISN'T MY BEDROOM, BUT CLOSE. I HAVE THE WHITE FURNITURE AND BLUE BEDDING. I ALSO HAVE AN ANTIQUE DRESSER, ARMOIRE AND BOOKCASE.

I HAD ONE OF THOSE NIGHTS LAST NIGHT WHERE I COULDN'T SLEEP AND KEPT LOOKING AT THE CLOCK THINKING WELL IF I ONLY GET 6 HOURS OF SLEEP I'LL BE ALRIGHT TOMORROW. AN HOUR LATER I'D TELL MYSELF I COULD SURVIVE THE NEXT DAY ON 5 HOURS OF SLEEP. AFTER ANOTHER LONG HOUR I'D TELL MYSELF 4 HOURS WOULD BE OK IF I COULD JUST FALL ASLEEP NOW. THEN AN HOUR LATER I'D PLEA WITH MYSELF TO JUST FALL ASLEEP AND 3 HOURS WOULD WORK BECAUSE I COULD JUST GO TO BED WHEN I GOT HOME FROM WORK........WELL, I DIDN'T GET TO SLEEP UNTIL 5 A.M.! I GOT 90 MINUTES OF SLEEP BEFORE I HAD TO GET UP.

I'M HERE AT WORK DOING SURPRISINGLY WELL, BUT ONLY BECAUSE I KNOW TOMORROW IS SATURDAY AND I CAN SLEEP.

AS I WAS LYING IN BED FOR AN AGONIZING 6 HOURS OF NO SLEEP I WAS THINKING ABOUT WHAT A FINICKY SLEEPER I REALLY AM. ALL THE THINGS THAT MUST BE A CERTAIN WAY FOR ME TO HAVE A GOOD NIGHTS SLEEP. FOR ONE THE ROOM MUST BE VERY COOL. EVEN IN THE MIDDLE OF WINTER I HAVE BEEN KNOWN TO HAVE MY WINDOW AIR CONDITIONER ON SET TO 60 DEGREES BECAUSE MY ROOM CAN GET WARM EVEN WITH MY HEAT VENT CLOSED. I ALSO MUST HAVE MY CEILING FAN SET ON HIGH BECAUSE I MUST HAVE AIR FLOW. I CAN'T STAND NOT HAVING AIR FLOW! WHEN I GO TO A HOTEL I BRING A LITTLE FAN. I ALSO HAVE MY AIR PURIFIER MACHINE ON AND IT'S A NOISY ONE, WHICH I LIKE. NO SILENT MACHINES FOR ME, I MUST HAVE THE WHITE NOISE. AS SOON AS I GET INTO A HOTEL ROOM I TURN ON THE AIR CONDITIONER AND IF IT'S A NOISY ONE I'M SO THANKFUL.

I MUST ALSO CONFESS I CAN'T SLEEP IN THE DARK. I'M AFRAID OF THE DARK SO I PUT MY T.V. ON MUTE AND LEAVE IT ON ALL NIGHT.

MY SHEET AND MY BLANKET MUST BE FLANNEL. I CAN'T STAND A TOP SHEET AND THE BLANKET HAS TO HAVE THE RIGHT FEEL NEXT TO ME. I ALSO WANT THE ROOM COOL ENOUGH SO I CAN HAVE AT LEAST 2 BLANKETS FOR THE WEIGHT. IT MAKES ME FEEL SAFE, IN A COCOON.

I SHARE MY KING SIZE BED WITH MY 2 DOGS. THEY CANNOT TOUCH ME WHILE I SLEEP AND THEY KNOW THIS. I HAVE MY HALF OF THE BED AND THEY HAVE THEIR HALF OF THE BED. WHEN I GOT THEM AS PUPPIES I TRAINED THEM TO STAY ON THEIR SIDE. MY FRIEND NATALIE SAYS I'M MEAN THAT I DON'T CUDDLE WITH THEM. I CUDDLE WITH THEM ALL THE TIME I'M HOME. I PLAY WITH THEM, TALK TO THEM LIKE THEY'RE LITTLE PEOPLE, MASSAGE THEM..........THEY ARE SPOILED. SO AT NIGHT THEY CAN RESPECT MY ONE TIME WHEN I CAN'T BE TOUCHED.

WHAT ARE SOME OTHER QUIRKS YOU MIGHT ASK? MY FEET CANNOT GO OUTSIDE MY BLANKET WHEN I'M TRYING TO FALL ASLEEP. THE MONSTER UNDER MY BED MIGHT GET THEM!

I ALSO HAVE TO HAVE MY NECKSUPPORT PILLOW WITH A VERY THIN FLAT PILLOW UNDERNEATH IT. I DO TAKE MY PILLOWS WITH ME IF I'M TRAVELING BY CAR TO A HOTEL.

MY SLEEPING ATTIRE IS A WHOLE OTHER ISSUE. I MUST SLEEP IN A COTTON LONG T-SHIRT WITH A V NECK AND SHORT SLEEVES. IT CAN'T BE A CREW NECK BECAUSE IT CHOKES ME. IT CAN'T BE LONG SLEEVES BECAUSE IT'S TOO MUCH CLOTH. IT CAN'T BE TOO LONG BECAUSE IT GETS TWIRLED AROUND MY BODY BECAUSE IF I HAVEN'T MENTIONED IT I'M ALSO A VERY RESTLESS SLEEPER. I TOSS AND TURN A LOT.

WOW. AFTER WRITING ALL OF THAT OUT I CAN SEE HOW WEIRD I AM. WELL I KNEW IT ALREADY ON SOME LEVEL BUT NOW YOU KNOW TOO, AREN'T YOU GLAD?

WELL, LAST NIGHT I WAS SITTING ON MY BED WATCHING A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS AND THOUGHT I'D DO A LITTLE COLORING. I HAD THIS COOL NEW AUTOMATIC CRAYON PENCIL THAT I GOT FROM PENTEL, YOU CAN SEE IT HERE. IT HAS 8 COLORS IN IT SO WHEN YOU'RE ON THE GO YOU CAN STILL DO A LITTLE COLORING :) I LOVE IT!

A HOMEMADE CHRISTMAS

AS THE DAYS TURN COLDER AND THE LEAVES START TO FALL I LONG FOR CHRISTMAS. I LOVE THE SNOW, THE LIGHTS, THE COZY FEELING OF BEING INSIDE WHILE THE WIND WHIPS OUTSIDE. THE LAST WEEKS BEFORE CHRISTMAS SEEM TO FLY BY SO QUICKLY THOUGH. I DID MANAGE TO MAKE A FEW HOMEMADE THINGS. I MADE CHRISTMAS CARDS, WITH THE HELP OF MY MOM AND DAD WHO WANTED TO EACH HELP....SO MY MOM DID THE YARN CROSS STITCHING AND MY DAD DID THE EMBOSSING. I ALSO MADE SOME GIFT TAGS FOR SOME GIFTS TO GIVE AT WORK, TO THOSE WHO HELP US ALL YEAR LONG AND DO IT WITH A SMILE....THAT SEEMS RARE THESE DAYS.

I WAS PERUSING SOME OTHER BLOGS AND WAS TOTALLY AMAZED AT HOW MUCH TIME SOME PEOPLE HAVE TO DECORATE THEIR HOUSES AND MAKE HOMEMADE GIFTS AND DECORATIONS. 2. I collect dictionaries. My favorite being the Oxford compact dictionary, the writing is so small it comes with a magnifier! I love it!

3. I hate to make any food that I have to get my hands into, i.e. meatloaf, kneading dough, etc.

4. When I was a kid and had to go to confession I made stuff up :) Now, I would have to make an all day appointment!

5. I collect rulers in my desk drawer, my favorite is a bright translucent pink one.

6. I can't open the gum with the foil wrappers like wrigleys, it gives me the willies!

EVEN AT WORK I HAVE MARKERS, STAMPING SUPPLIES BECAUSE IT MAKES ME FEEL CREATIVE. I HAVE MY EVER PRESENT WATER...USUALLY THERE ARE MANY BOTTLES OF WATER ON MY DESK, THIS MUST HAVE BEEN LATE IN THE DAY. MY FILES LOOK MESSY BUT REALLY THEY'RE VERY ORGANIZED. I CAN'T THROW AWAY ANY USABLE PAPER SO I HAVE STACKS OF PARTIALLY USED NOTEPADS AND SCRAPS OF PAPER IN A FILE. AH, THE BIG POST-IT NOTES, I LOVE THEM!

SATURDAY NIGHT WAS THE 2ND ANNUAL VIRTUDAL MEETING OF THE A*MUSE ADDICTS. WE HAD 5 CHALLENGES.

Well, I finally had a creative spark and made some cards. A super-duper girl off the amuse addicts website, Katie, got me two retired amuse stamps, the life preserver and the saying "you're a life saver". So, I decided to make a card to say thanks! I also had to make some cards for a card swap at work so I did a bunch of cards for both.

I love the colors, what do you think?

IKNOW YOU'VE BEEN ASKING YOURSELF, WHERE OH WHERE HAS SHE GONE?

I WAS DROWNING IN HOME IMPROVEMENT LAND. TWO YEARS AGO I ADOPTED 2 CUTE LITTLE INNOCENT PUPPIES WHO HAVE CHANGED MY LIFE. ONE DAY I CAME HOME FROM WORK TO FIND MY KITCHEN FLOOR EATEN. A HOLE THE SIZE OF A BASKETBALL LIE UNDER A CHAIR. I HATED THAT FLOOR ANYWAY BUT UNLESS I'M PUSHED TO DO HOME IMPROVEMENTS, I DON'T! SO MY 2 CUTE LITTLE INNOCENT PUPPIES HAD PUSHED ME TO DO IT. IT STARTED OUT BY REPLACING THE KITCHEN FLOOR AND HALLWAY, THEN I REPLACED THE CARPET IN THE LIVING ROOM AND DINING ROOM, THEN I PAINTED THE KITCHEN CABINETS AND BATHROOM VANITIES, THEN I REPLACED THE FLOOR IN THE BATHROOMS, THEN I GOT A NEW ROOF, AND NOW I'VE FINALLY COMPLETED THE BATHROOMS.

LOOK AT THE BEFORE AND AFTER'S, I THINK YOU'D AGREE IT WAS TIME TO DO IT.

WATERCOLOR THAT MAKE ME HAPPY!

Seven years ago my friend Natalie and I took a watercolor class together and had such a wonderful time. I painted two pictures that I thought were good enough to frame and are now hanging in my house. Each time I look at them I still love them and remember the fun we had.

Natalie and I have been friends since we were sophmores in high school. We didn't become best friends until after high school though. I can tell her anything and know that she'll hear me out and try to help me with whatever it is. We can laugh so hard that it's hard to breathe. There's nothing better than that shorthand you have with a friend, where you just have to look at them and they know what you're thinking and you burst into laughter. She was there for me at my saddest moments, the times when there's nothing anyone can say. But she was there to cry with me and hold me up.

CUTE LITTLE VALENTINE'S

Last night I went to Paula's house and made some mighty cute little valentine's. Eva was there as well and what a hoot she is!

I love getting together with the girls and crafting together. You get to see all the fun supplies everyone has and see the designs everyone comes up with.......and of course all the good juicy gossip!

This is my first post, ever!

I wanted to document my life, my crafts and my loves.

I have so many things to say! But, where to begin.........

Yesterday I made this Valentine heart tree. Some I punched out of decorative paper and some were ready made hearts. I love how it looks old, so simple and yet so Valentine-y!
